Corrections Policy

Write to [email protected] with the page, the statement you believe is wrong, and — where you have one — the published source that shows it. A pointer to the authority's own page is the fastest possible correction, and it is welcome even when it is blunt.

1. The claim is checked against the primary source, not against the report of the error.
2. If the claim is wrong, it is corrected and the change is recorded in the page's change log with the date.
3. If the correction changes a finding in a research report, the report's version is incremented rather than the text being quietly amended.
4. If the claim turns out to be right, the page is left alone — and, where the confusion was ours, reworded so the next reader does not stumble the same way.

Errors are not deleted. A page that was wrong records that it was wrong, because a reader who acted on the old version deserves to be able to find out.
